Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth, and regrowth; flowers start blooming, animals awake from hibernation, and we say our goodbyes to the chilly embrace of winter. For this reason, most people celebrate and welcome the season with open arms. One way of doing this is by redecorating your home to match the season.
Doing a home redecoration project to welcome springtime can be a lot of fun. After all, there is so much you can do to make your home as lively, fresh, and colorful as nature.
Here are some examples of what you can do to emulate the splendor of spring in your home:
Capture the Colors of Spring
One of the best ways to bring spring into your home is by changing the colors in your home to match the flowers blooming outside. Take out the Christmas patterns and replace them with springtime colors ranging from soft pastel shades to bright, bold tones. Examples of these colors include various shades of pink, green, fuchsia, blue, and yellow.
Don’t know where to start? The easiest things you can change include throw pillows, rugs, dining table linens, and bed spreads.
This simple change in color will make sure every room in your home will be a refreshing sight to behold.
Do the Three-second Scan
According to Angela Min, an interior designer for homes in NYC and the Hamptons, doing the three-second scan on every room of your home can make it easier to get rid of clutter.
To do this, close your eyes, then – upon opening them – point out three objects the visually bother you the most in the room. These objects will be considered clutter and should be taken out. This allows you to tackle the clutter one room at a time, rather than starting with an overwhelming list that spans the entire household.
Create a Layout for Spring
To further the springtime change in your home, consider changing the furniture layout in some of the rooms. In the living room, for example, you can turn the couches to face different directions, place the coffee table elsewhere, and allow more space to flow through. Although it still includes the same old furniture, your living room will feel like a totally different living area.
These are just some of the things you can do to welcome springtime in your home. If you have any more suggestions, feel free to leave a comment – we’d love to hear from you!
