Every home has dark places that rarely see the light of day. They may not be as grand and daunting as a whole room, but neglecting to clean them might encourage more dirt and grime to spread to the rest of the house. Here are some ideas to keep in mind for tackling such hard-to-clean areas:

1. Don’t be afraid of the bathroom. Places people often either forget to clean or have trouble cleaning include the nooks and crannies of the bathroom. While the rest of the room may be sparkling clean, there can be a lot of hidden spaces where mildew and dirt thrive.
One such place is right behind the toilet. After brushing away any dirt with a broom, wipe the area down with a sponge or mop. In order to keep the dirt from coming back, it also helps to wipe the area down with a paper towel, which you should toss away immediately after use.

2. Take time for your appliances. Some of the most daunting cleaning jobs are in and around appliances. From decrumbing the toaster to wiping down and organizing the mess of wires behind your entertainment console, there’s no doubt that the amount of work involved can make some people squirm.
But one task you definitely must do at least twice every year is clean below and behind your refrigerator. Dirty condenser coils can make your appliance run inefficiently, causing it to use more electricity than usual. While this task can easily be accomplished, make sure you study the owner’s manual first to ensure your safety.

3. Know when to replace things. Things in the house deteriorate over time and can also become a source of allergens, grime, and other undesirables. One of the biggest culprits can be the very thing you sleep on every night: your mattress.
If it’s about time for you to replace your mattress, why not drop by your nearest Schewels showroom to see our special Sleep Shop? There, our specialists can help you find a brand new mattress that can be as good as or even better than your old one.
