Let’s say that you do most of your work at home or maybe you simply need a designated space to work on your hobbies. If you’re the kind of person who likes to get a lot done, it might even work to your advantage to put all your work-related things in one convenient nook away from the rest of the house. But in limiting spaces such as an apartment or a small home, creating your office can be a challenge. Thankfully, there are a number of creative solutions you can make use of. Here are just a few of them:
Use empty closets to your advantage.
If you have an unused hall closet or a poorly placed one that isn’t used to its full potential, it might be a prospective place for your home office. All you need to do is adjust the shelving to work as a desk and make sure you have ample lighting. By converting a closet into your new office space, not only are you making the most of what your home has, but if the space is large enough, you can actually fix it up so you can hide everything away when it isn’t in use. This saves more space at home than putting up a new desk in another awkward corner of the house.
Divide the space.
If you don’t have an extra closet to use, you can allot some space within your bedroom or living room to turn into your office. Although at first you may think it messy, you can create a division in the area to keep things nice and tidy. There are many ways to go about this, too. Folding opaque dividers are a good idea if you want to reduce distractions in your workspace. Not to mention that it gives your office space a room-like feel. You can partition the space using open shelves, too.
Create multi-purpose rooms.
Finally, let’s say you have a laundry room in the house. Unless you prefer it to be used only for the laundry, there’s no hard and fast rule that it can’t also be used as an office space. Keeping a desk next to your washing machines can make a convenient multi-tasking space while you’re doing your chores.
