Creating a Younger Space with Print and Texture

Being fashionable isn’t limited to clothing. For some of us, fashion even extends to the home where looks should be updated every once in a while. It’s not all for show, though. A younger looking room can give anyone a dose of pep, whether if it’s in the living room or in the bedroom.

One of the easiest ways to update a room’s look now is to change your d├ęcor. And there are different ways to accomplish it, too. Sometimes, it can be a simple matter of adding a dash of texture. If you’ve got a solid color couch, you might want to cover your throw pillows in something printed to add some depth. Cloth-covered lampshades can also be modified to use printed material.

Don’t forget to consider texture, too. Soft wooly or earthy woven rugs can easily add warmth to the room’s appearance. Just make sure that the rug stands out from the floor and contrasts it. It may be redundant to put a wooly rug on a carpeted surface.

You don’t have to limit yourself to these small articles if you want to create depth within a space. The next step is to consider reupholstering one of your couches with a print to create a point of contrast for the room.

Dressing up your wall doesn’t have to be this drastic, either. You can try something simple with blank frames. But if you’re feeling adventurous, select one wall in the room to cover in printed wallpaper. If you’d like to add a creative edge to your wall’s look, consider a DIY approach.
Now, if you really want to overhaul your room’s look, consider updating your furniture. Contemporary furnishings for both the bedroom and the living room are lighter than their traditional counterparts, so it actually can make the room feel breezier. Take the time to dress your room up nicely. By giving it a fresh look, you might fall in love with your home all over again.
