Versatility is always the key to a fashionable household. A homeowner who wants to impress but not spend too much can easily go from summer to fall décor with a few helpful tips. To achieve a versatile look for the home, why not take note of the things you can easily change in your décor?
Curtains
Although just a bit traditional, using curtains is an easy way to change the look of a home for any season. To make it even easier, don’t go for the old-fashioned, heavy drapes. Instead, choose simple curtains that add just the right accent to your home. For the spring and summer, consider light-colored fabrics or maybe just chiffon drapes to provide a breezy look to your space. When autumn and winter come in, shift to a heavier fabric to give the room an illusion of warmth. If most of your room is in plain solids, consider using prints to easily add depth.
Flower Arrangements
While flowers will always be the obvious choice for a vase, why not change it up for every season? Long stalks of grass or even dried stalks of grain add a rustic touch ideal for the dry season of summer. If you have a garden, why not use the flora you grow instead? This way, your home décor can reflect changes in the seasons more accurately.
While these simple accents can easily change the whole feel of a room, keep in mind that it also helps to give them a good base. For curtains, invest in a good curtain rod that goes well with the general motif of your room. As for your flower arrangements, don’t simply go with any vase. Consider more creative approaches to give your living space a quirky touch.
Of course, nothing beats having the right furniture to anchor down the look for every season. How would you dress up your home for each season? We’d love to hear your ideas here on the Schewels blog.
Adapt to the Seasons with Simple Accents Around the Home

With the customer service being so horrible at your Danville Va store, anything related to Schewels is scary indeed! After your workers loaded my new chair on my truck, without my help, then didn’t close the tailgate good, the chair fell out and was damaged. The store refuses to help us at all with the damage, and we only want the fabric repaired, not replaced. We won’t be spending another dime at any Schewels. All it would cost to satisfy us is to repair the fabric. Horrible service indeed. Randy Dowdy, 434-835-6538
